Philadelphia chooses ARXX for its first energy-efficient, affordable housing project
Philadelphia is committed to being a leader in green, energy-efficient housing.
For their debut, they chose a Habitat for Humanity effort to reclaim the historic East Parkside neighborhood, building a block of seven three story homes, with ARXX used for the foundation, exterior walls and fire/demising walls. These LEED Silver homes went up quickly, and resulted in energy bills of only $50 in January – making these homes dramatically more affordable to live in. ARXX’s structural properties and noise reduction also make the homes much more livable in a busy growing city.
The Mayor received the Sustainable Leadership Award from the Portland Cement Association for this landmark project. Robert Cousar of Sustainable Construction Corporation, Lehigh Cement, Wallace Roberts & Todd, and Will Schoenleber from Old World Builders provided invaluable project support.

Survey says: Fervent demand for energy-efficient homes
In 2009, ProSales magazine featured an article on key home buying trends from a survey featured in the Builder magazine.
Their key finding: "At no time in the history of this country has consumer demand been as fervent for energy-efficient homes, not only to protect the environment but also to save money for their owners."
89% see insulation that exceeds code as ‘very or extremely important’ for their new home – and they’re willing to pay extra for it, especially when you can show payback from energy savings. Quality and comfort are increasingly important.
These customer trends are an exact match for ARXX ICF benefits. Contact us for your next project and we can help estimate ongoing energy savings and show how a quality ARXX home may cost less than comparable homes.
